ShareWine Conterno Tasting
The tasting was hosted by ShareWine in November 2023. Thanks to all participants.
Long live the Barolo legend!
When your heart beats for Barolo, your pulse races double-time in anticipation of an evening like the one we had with Giacomo Conterno at Enomania.
The Tasting Program
Eight wines collected over many years (+ a Champagne surprise in the form of Agrapart's Terroirs), shared with new and familiar ShareWine users around two long tables at the iconic Italian restaurant in Copenhagen.
Tasting Notes
The evening began with a couple of almost freshly released wines: Gattinara and Cerretta 2019, before we dove headfirst into a Francia vertical of six vintages. This retrospective started with the newest, namely 2017 and 2018, showing that warm vintages definitely can't be generalized, displaying respectively gunpowder and golden lock finesse... The next set featured 2012 and 2009, both inducing zen-like states, though the 2009 touched all the body's chakras and ended up being the wine of the evening for many. Finally, we had 2006 and 2004 in the glasses. Despite one of the 2006s being a bit tired, the other was comet-like. The 2004 was as open as a 24-hour convenience store with a broad selection of cravings, though you have to keep an eye on the "expiration date". A beautifully mature wine, noticeably more mature than the 2006.
