When the then winemaker died before he could bottle the 1972 vintage, the sons could not bring themselves to touch their father's last barrel of wine, which was allowed to age for more than 45 years.
The next generation of Xavier was allowed to taste the old wine, he was blown away by the wine's almost Burgundian vitality and elegance, he immediately bought the idea.

Label has got a little moisture from a leaking wine that has laid over it.
