Ferrari has a reputation and quality that matches the great houses of Champagne and is the most successful producer of sparkling wines in Italy. It has (unfortunately) nothing to do with a well-known car - but since 2021 is the main sponsor of Formula 1, so that there can now be 2 Ferraris at the top of racing!
Elegant dry sparkling wine made from hand-harvested Chardonnay grapes from the Italian Champagne challenger.
The founder, Giulio Ferrari, succeeded in creating a house with a reputation and quality that matches the best houses in the Champagne district. Ferrari has been named "Sparkling Wine Producer of the Year" in 2015, 2017, 2019, 2021 and most recently in 2022 by the Champagne & Sparkling Wines World Competition.
100% chardonnay from own vineyards in Trento at the foot of the Alps + winegrowers on contract. The wine ferments in the bottle and ages for at least 2 years before sale.
Giulio Ferrari (1879-1965) was born in Calceranica al Lago, then part of Austria's South Tyrol. In 1902 he started making sparkling wines under the name Ferrari, then aged 4-5 years.
In 1952 he was tired and childless and left the house to Bruno Æunelli (who had 5 children). Back then, Ferrari made 8000 bottles/year!
Today the house is managed by the 3rd generation, Matteo Lunelli (photo) + Camilla, Alessandro and Marcello Lunelli.
