How Payments Work

In this guide, you can find all the necessary information about how payments between buyers and sellers work on ShareWine. You can, among other things, get an overview of the payment options supported by the marketplace and read our recommendations on how to choose the safest payment option.

How Payments Work on ShareWine

Below you can see the payment options supported by the marketplace and the advantages and disadvantages you should be aware of.

ShareWine Secure Payment

To offer the safest and most seamless payment experience possible, we have integrated a payment solution via the global payment provider Stripe on the marketplace. We call this ShareWine Secure Payment.

When paying through the platform, the money is held by our payment provider (Stripe) until the wine is received, or the buyer has had the opportunity to pick it up.

Stripe is one of the world’s leading providers of payment infrastructure, and therefore supports the level of security and robustness we require around payments on the marketplace.

Secure Deposit

When a payment is made using Secure Payment, the amount is automatically deposited into a secure account with Stripe. As soon as the buyer has completed the payment on ShareWine, the payment for the transaction is secured, and the money is on its way to the deposit account with Stripe. This typically takes 4 business days.

Fast Payout

Once the transaction is completed and the wine is received by the buyer, the amount is released from Stripe and sent to the seller's account. This typically takes 2-4 business days.

This method ensures the best possible security for both the buyer and the seller.

All sellers on ShareWine can receive payments via Secure Payment. Therefore, as a buyer, you only need to select a payment card in the cart when you pay.

Bank transfers

Some sellers also offer that you can make a direct bank transfer.
For such transactions, we, as a platform, do not have the ability to hold the payment or assist in case of any disputes, once the money has been transferred. Be aware of this.

Therefore, direct bank transfer are not included in "ShareWine Secure Payment", unless the wine is sold by ShareWine and thus happens directly to us.

Thus, we always recommend that you use ShareWine Secure Payment, i.e., card payment. This service is solely created for your security when buying on the marketplace.

Buyer Bonus - only on Secure Payment Transactions

To increase the overall security and buying experience, we offer buyers a 2% bonus on the price of the purchased wine, if the transaction is completed via Secure Payment within 4 days.
